Marlies' Game tomorrow!

Hi Everyone,
Here are some of the rules for the Marlies game tomorrow:

· Students should bring a small bag to carry their money, and perhaps a lunch or snack if they choose to. They do not need their large knapsacks. No electronics! We are not responsible for lost items.·
EPI-PENS or inhalers for those with Asthma. Washrooms and snacks are pretty centralized so there should not be any problems. However, do not forget ·

I would prefer you spent the time watching the game as it is an amazing experience!  If you do decide to go to the consessions, then you will be waiting in line for a long time.  So bring snacks and food so you won't have to spend time away from the game.

Pictures for the media literacy project.

Students should wear leaf jerseys or blue and white.Students are allowed to buy snacks and souvenirs. Older students need to go with a partner. The younger students should go with a parent (perhaps with the group). Please bring your clips for the students to use for the washroom. They should go in partners. For the younger students, perhaps a parent or teacher can take them in small groups.Every student should have a partner. They are responsible for each other at all times.

Hi Everyone,
We had a great day in terms of your focus!  I was very impressed, as were our visitors (I overheard them talking about you).  In Math, we finished our unit on 2D Geometry and will be summing up with a Test.  In Language, we did some writing about the leaching we saw in the plastic water bottles.  I hope you all can do some research and prove me wrong ;)  Have some ideas on mind for the media you will create to promote the use of reusable water bottles.  But start at home and educate your family first.  In journal/religion, we wrote about how we would deal with a very difficult situation.  Don't forget to study and bring your questions tomorrow.

Over the hump!

Hi Everyone,
We had some great discussions about math and language.  Also, some great collaboration between group members.  In math, we discussed about how to communicate about polygons using mathematical language.  We also discovered some rules when bisecting various quadrilaterals.  In language, we continued with determining important ideas using the history and development of the iPod.  In art, we used pressure shading in order to show a light source to build on our perspective drawings.  Finally, in religion, we read a passage from Matthew 18:21-35 to introduce our March Virtue of the month.  All in all, a day full of learning and collaborating.

Hi Everyone!

We had a good day in terms of your hard work.  We have to make sure we keep this up until the break.  Today, we reviewed polygons and how to classify them according to their vertices, angles, sides, and lines of symmetry.  In Language, we took up and reviewed determining important ideas and summarizing.  Then we talked about he upcoming media literacy project we will have starting next week.  Then, we made a reflection on the Northern spirit games and our wish for last week.  Great day, let's continue that tomorrow.

Back on!

Finally, I'm able to post so here I am.  I hope you are all behaving well and are very productive.  I'm at a workshop to learn about digital art so we can use more technology for visual art.  Make sure you complete all the math assign today (all the questions and workbook), complete the science title page (not like the one I taught you how to make, but an artsy one), and the summary for Language arts.

Happy Report Card Day!

Hi Everyone,
Although there isn't any classroom homework, there is one thing I would like you to do with your parents or guardians:  Have a look through your report cards and pick some things you would like to work on.  Then either during the interview or during class, we can talk about some ways you can achieve these goals.  Ideally, it would be nice if you could write this down on the report card section so that it's there as a reminder.  See you all tomorrow and Happy Valentine Day!

Simile like a warm summer sun...

Hi Everyone,

We had an interesting day today, but we got a lot done.  In math, we aer learning about wasy to do mental math when dividing. We went over some shortcuts you can use and learned how to use base-ten blocks to model them.  In language, we went over main idea, hyperbole, and similes.  This will help us in our reading and writing.  Finally, we went over development in humans and the different types of development that people go through.  Tomorrow, we are going to present our tableaux of our fractured fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood so be prepared.

Lead By Example

Hi Everyone,
Although it was my first day back, we did make a lot of progress covering all the material that was assigned over the past two days.  We are all caught up with math with the Grade 5s working on arrays to multiply, and the grade 6s looking at multiples, factors, and counting money.  In language, we continued with Purpose and Audience for media literacy and you all came up with a lot of great skit in a small amount of time.  Finally, in Drama, we learned about the stage and the use of height, positioning, contrast to emphasize certain characters we want the audience to focus on.  Overall, you did a great job in working hard and being attentive.

Today we had a busy day.  In math we learned about using mental math for 2 digit multiplication, and the grade 6s added on to that lesson and learned about factors, prime numbers, and composite numbers.  Then we had a reading test on Asking Questions which I hope you all did well on.  Finally after health and physical education, we had some time to do our two stars and a wish and our social studies webquest. 
I hope you all have a really restful weekend and remember to get all your work done.  By next week, you should have all your research done and have begun the report with your group.

Great first day!

Hi Everyone,
